Kenya Plant trees to mark Independence.

Kenya will plant 50 million trees as it
marks 50years of independence, a
planning committee for the the
celebrations has announced.
Sports, Culture and the Arts Cabinet
Secretary Hassan Wario, who chairs the
committee said they will run an
awareness campaign ahead of December
12.
Speaking at one of their inaugural
meetings with journalist in Nairobi
yesterday , Wario said the drive will focus
on different programmes and run until
June next year.
"All activities related to the Kenya at 50
celebrations will be national events
designed to have a positive impact on the
country today and the future," he
said.Tree planting will be among the
events of the programme. "We hope to
have planted 50 million trees across the
country by the end of the campaign,"
Wario said.
