Mimiko planning a not "to forget in a hurry" burial for late Agagu

Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko on Monday
constituted an 11- man committee to organise the
burial of the late former governor of the state, Dr.
Olusegun Agagu.
Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode
Akinmade, announced this in a statement in Akure, the
state capital.
Akinmade described the committee which included
himself as high-powered, adding that the committee
would work in conjunction with the Agagu family.
His statement read in part, “Following the demise of the
immediate past Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun
Agagu, on Friday, September 13, 2013, at his Ikoyi
residence in Lagos, His Excellency the Governor of
Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has constituted a
high-powered State Committee in conjunction with the
family of the deceased to plan a befitting state burial in
honour of the late former Governor.”
According to the statement, Mimiko’s Chief of Staff, Dr.
Kola Ademujimi, will head the Committee with
Akinmade and the Commissioner for Commerce and
Industry, Mrs. Nike Ademujimi as members.
Other members of the committee are the
Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Nicolas Tofowomo;
Jumoke Akindele, Soji Akinkurolire, Evangelist Niyi
Pirisola, Mrs. O. O. Ajayi and Mr. Ife Fasoranti. Rev. Soji
Gbadebo was named as the Secretary to the committee.
The Ondo State Government had on Sunday declared a
seven-day mourning period, which began on Monday
in honour of the late Agagu.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola
(SAN) has joined dignitaries who have been mourning
the death of Agagu.
Fashola who spoke at the LTV Blue Roof Hall on
Agidingbi Road, Ikeja when he rendered account of his
administration’s stewardship called on the audience to
observe a minute’s silence for the soul of the late ex-
governor.
A statement on Monday by his media aide, Hakeem
Bello, quoted the governor as saying that he received
the news of the passage of the former governor in the
morning before coming to the venue.
Majority Leader of the Senate, Victor Ndoma- Egba
(SAN), also on Monday said the death of Agagu had
robbed the Nigerian intelligentsia of a worthy
ambassador.
Ndoma-Egba said news of the death came to him as “a
rude shock.”
In a condolence message issued in Abuja, Ndoma-Egba
said, “The late Agagu was a first class brain who was an
asset to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and helped
deploy his wealth of experience in running the party,
both at the local and national level.
“As a former governor of Ondo State, the late Agagu
really tried his best for his people while his
contributions will not be forgotten in a hurry.”
