Douglas Ude had a visitor last Sunday and was driving
with his wife to pick the person at Jibowu in Lagos.
Along the way, armed robbers accosted them and
rather than throw them out of the car, chose to drive
with them (Douglas and wife) for an operation that
night.
Somewhere during the operation, the robbers
encountered the police and a gun fight ensued.
Douglas was felled by police bullets as they were trying
to repel the robbers. A surgery in Nigeria could not do
it and Fidelity Bank, where he worked as Head of Retail
Products hired an air ambulance to fly him abroad for
proper treatment.
Douglas gave up the ghost as he was being wheeled into
the ambulance on the tarmac of the Lagos airport.
